Our mission
VictOERia exists to make open educational resource creation more practical for the people doing the work. Our mission is to help educators and their partners produce materials that are useful in the classroom, transparent about their sources, and genuinely open for others to retain, reuse, revise, remix, and redistribute.
AI can shorten the distance between an idea and a strong first draft. But speed alone is not enough. Educational materials also need trustworthy evidence, clear reuse rights, accessible structure, and meaningful educator oversight. VictOERia brings those requirements into one authoring experience.
Why we are building it
Traditional course authoring often scatters the work across search engines, repositories, documents, spreadsheets, and learning platforms. Faculty may find a promising resource only to discover that its license is unclear. Librarians and OER coordinators may reconstruct attribution details by hand. Instructional designers may spend valuable time translating a syllabus into a repeatable course structure.
VictOERia is designed around a different premise: provenance and permissions should travel with the content from the moment it is discovered. The platform combines AI-assisted drafting with verified repositories, license intelligence, and structured export so teams can move faster without losing the evidence behind their decisions.
Educator judgment stays central
The platform is a collaborator, not an autonomous author. Educators decide what belongs in the course, how concepts should be framed, and whether a resource fits their learners and context. VictOERia makes those decisions easier to review by showing where material came from and how it may be used.
Our approach is grounded in three commitments:
- Open by design: licensing, attribution, and the Creative Commons 5Rs are part of the workflow from the beginning.
- Evidence before automation: source quality and provenance remain visible so recommendations can be evaluated, not simply accepted.
- Human responsibility: publishing decisions stay with educators and the institutions that serve learners.
Built for the whole OER team
Creating sustainable OER is rarely a solo effort. VictOERia is being shaped for faculty, instructional designers, librarians and OER coordinators, administrators, and the technical teams who help move content into production systems.
If your institution is exploring a new OER initiative—or looking for a more coherent way to support an existing one—we would value the conversation.
